What to expect working with KiteMD
KiteMD connects licensed clinicians with med spas and wellness businesses whose clients need a medical decision: a prescription review or a good faith exam. You decide; we handle the platform, the paperwork, the pharmacy and billing. Here is how it works, from your invite to your first case.
1. What you'd be doing
There are two kinds of work. You choose one or both when you set up your space, and you can change later.
- Prescription reviews (asynchronous). A client of one of our partners completes a structured online intake for prescription skincare, hair restoration or weight management. You read it (history, medications, allergies, screening answers and, for some programs, photos), then approve and sign the prefilled prescription or decline. Most take 6 to 10 minutes. No video, no phone calls: if you need more information you message the patient in the portal.
- Good faith exams for med spas. Before a client has an aesthetic treatment (for example neurotoxin or fillers), the spa needs a clinician to confirm it is appropriate. You review the client's health history and either decide in writing or hold a short video visit (about 20 minutes, by Google Meet; the link is created for you). You record which treatments are cleared, any conditions, and how long the clearance is valid. This is opt-in and needs malpractice coverage that includes aesthetics.
There is no minimum volume, no shifts and no call. How much work you see depends on the partners live in the states you are licensed in; we tell you when new coverage opens.
2. Pay
- A flat $20 for every completed review or good faith exam, the same whether you approve or decline.
- If a client misses a booked exam video visit, you are still paid.
- Incomplete or abandoned reviews are not paid.
- Paid weekly via direct deposit as an independent contractor. We never collect your tax ID or bank details on the website: before your first payment our team sends a secure link for your W-9 and payout details.
3. Getting verified
When you sign in, your status is Pending. Your home page always shows where you stand and what is next. Onboarding takes about 15 minutes, in six short steps:
- Your work and availability: which work you want, rough weekly hours, your time zone.
- Licenses: each state, license type and number, and expiry date.
- Malpractice insurance: carrier, policy number, expiry, and your certificate of insurance (PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB).
- Terms and attestations: a plain-language summary you sign by typing your name.
- Payout and tax: confirm you will complete the secure W-9 and payout link.
- Training: five short modules on how reviews work, the screening standard, prescribing, declining, and privacy.
Then submit. Our team verifies, and much of it is automated:
- Your NPI against the national NPI registry.
- The federal exclusion list (OIG), plus SAM.gov.
- Each license, directly with that state's board.
- Your certificate of insurance: carrier, limits and dates.
Verification usually takes five to ten business days from a complete submission. You are activated state by state: as soon as one license is verified you can start receiving work there, while the others are checked. If we need anything, we message you in your space and email you.
4. How work reaches you
- Prescription reviews are assigned only for patients in states where your license is verified. You get an email and the case waits in your queue.
- Good faith exams are offered to one clinician at a time, based on the client's state and who is available. You get an email and see the offer in your space with a timer. Accept or decline; declining is never held against you.
- Once you accept an exam you either record your decision in writing or book the video visit. The client gets the time and a join link on their exam page; so do you.
5. Availability and response times
For good faith exams, set your weekly hours in your space. We only offer exams to you during those hours, so spas and their clients get a quick answer. Once offered, the clock is:
| Accept or decline an offer | within 15 minutes |
| Book the video visit (after accepting) | within 2 hours |
| Record a written decision (after accepting) | within 4 hours |
If an offer times out it moves to the next clinician, and that counts as a miss. Misses lower your place in line for future offers; 3 misses within 30 days pause new offers until you resume them from your space. Declining is never a miss, so if you can't take one, just decline. You can see your record under Performance on your home page.
Prescription reviews have no timer: they wait in your queue, and we ask that you clear them within a day.
6. Your clinical judgment
- Your decisions are yours alone. Nobody at KiteMD or any partner may pressure them, and your pay is the same either way.
- Intake screening removes clear contraindications before a case reaches you; anything flagged is highlighted for your judgment.
- Decline whenever treatment isn't appropriate and write a clear note. The client is told kindly.
- Patient information stays in the KiteMD portal. Partners never see health information for prescription programs; for exams, the spa sees only the outcome.
7. Who can do which work
- Physicians (MD, DO): any state where you hold an active license.
- Nurse practitioners: in full practice authority states you work independently. In states that require a collaborating physician, we can only route work to you there once a collaboration arrangement is in place; we will tell you which of your states are open.
- Physician assistants: almost every state requires a supervising physician, so we activate PAs once one is on file. We would rather say so now than after you credential.
8. Insurance
You practice under your own license and your own professional liability policy. We look for at least $1M per claim and $3M aggregate, covering telehealth, and aesthetic procedures if you do good faith exams. Keep it current: we remind you before your policy or a license expires, and you tell us within 5 business days of any change to your license or coverage.
9. Getting help
Message our team from Messages in your space; we reply there and by email. If a quick call would help, ask in Messages and we'll set one up.
